Drew and Linda are parents to two little toddlers, Parker and Piper. So having the right organization tools is essential for them to manage their busy family life—especially in the kitchen. It’s the heart of the home, which also means it’s where things can get the most chaotic. If you have a little sous chef running around, too, then you need some kid-friendly kitchen hacks to make sure the space works for them and their tiny hands. That’s why Drew is here with his best tips for keeping your cooking area a safe and fun place for every member of the family.

The kitchen shouldn’t feel dangerous or off-limits to your tots—everyone should feel comfortable cooking, cleaning, and connecting with one another. And as parents, this means you want to make sure you’re taking precautions for your kiddos where you can! Drew is taking us through the simple additions he and Linda have made in their kitchen to make it an organized zone that everyone can enjoy. Watch the full video above to find out exactly what he swears by in their cooking space, and get more ideas below, too.

1. Use Double-Duty Furniture

It’s easy for the amount of kids’ stuff to accumulate—before you know it, it can feel like there’s no room for anything else! That’s why double-duty kids furniture is so great. Drew has a fun piece that Parker and Piper love that can transform from a step stool into a toddlers’ table in seconds, snapping into place with locks to ensure safety. It’s simple, smart solutions like these that help a ton on organization and space-saving.

2. Incorporate Playful and Educational Pieces

Playful and educational touches—like letter and number magnets on the fridge or setting up an easel where the kids can practice writing—can help foster an environment where tots feel welcome hanging out alongside you in the kitchen. After all, it’s the heart of the home, and it’s a place for them, too!

3. Consider an Induction Range

Induction ranges offer an added layer of safety since they don’t get hot to the touch like gas ranges do. And for those tiny hands you love, that means one less thing to worry about when they’re helping you in the kitchen.

4. Add Safety Features Like Straps & Locks

One thing about kids and toddlers? They sure are curious! Adding simple safety straps to the oven and cabinets, and any other places that you don’t want your little ones rummaging through, can help keep them safe from accidents and prevent any let’s-empty-the-entire-drawer-of-cooking-utensils parties.

5. Avoid Mess With Hands-Free Hacks

Going hands-free in a messy zone can really help cut back on the ick and stick that can come from cooking (especially with kids!). In Drew’s home, they installed a little mechanism that will open up the cabinet garbage just by pushing in on the door. Nothing fancy here—just a little arm installed behind the cabinet door and voilà, you have yourself a hands-free setup!

6. Put Family Schedules on Display

It’s easier to keep track of your busy schedules when they’re all up on the wall for quick reference! In Drew’s house, they use a large digital calendar that has everything they and their team needs to get through the day, from schedule changes to pickup times, meals, travel dates, and even when the little ones need to brush their teeth.

7. Make the Pantry Work for Everyone

…Yes, including the kiddos! When they’re helping you cook, clean, or put away groceries, they need to get into these zones, too. So simple additions, like pull-out drawers in the pantry or a step stool under the sink, can give them the confidence to move around these spaces and help out.

8. Label Drawers & Containers

In the pantry, a label-maker is pretty much a must. (Jonathan and Zooey use one in their kitchen pantry too!) This way, it’s easier for everyone in the house to know exactly where ingredients, snacks, and canned goods live, and grab them quickly without having to rip apart the whole cabinet.

If you’ve seen the Park House or their newly renovated New York City apartment, you know that Jonathan and Zooey have no problems merging their design tastes. In both spaces, they combined whimsical pattern, color, and ornate detailing to create homes they both love—and love being in together. But how exactly did Jonathan and Zooey work on combining their interior design styles to get that picture-perfect look that feels effortless? And if you’re having trouble getting on the same page as your living partner, what advice does he have for you?

Jonathan is spilling all his secrets on how to blend your individual tastes with a significant other or roommates , and sharing advice on how to combine your styles in a way that feels cohesive, intentional, and respectful—rather than messy, disjointed, and stressful. See his tips in detail in the video above, and don’t forget to follow the Drew and Jonathan YouTube channel to get helpful advice and tips like this every week. (P.S. If you haven’t watched the walk-through video of his and Zooey’s NYC apartment, you’re missing out! Catch it here and see the exclusive look into all the fine details.)

Jonathan’s Tips on Merging Design Styles With Your Significant Other

1. Discuss Must-Haves vs. Nice-to-Haves

When you’re first combining households, you likely can’t (and probably shouldn’t!) bring everything you both have. To avoid an overwhelming amount of boxes on move-in day, discuss each other’s wants. vs needs so you start off strong and on the same page. “Is there a family heirloom, or a collectable, or a gift that you gave each other that is an absolute must and you want to make sure it’s showcased? Put it on the must-have list,” Jonathan says. “The other stuff that’s like, ‘Well, we have it but we can probably do without it.’ Move it over on the other list. That way, you already know here’s where we draw the line in the sand and here’s the stuff that’s maybe not as important.”

2. Whoever Uses a Space More Often Has the Final Say

“In our house, Zooey is the cook. She is amazing, and runs that kitchen—so she should have the final say in what we do in that space because it really is her domain,” he says. Likewise, if you have an office, you could take the lead in what you want that room to look like. It’s not that the other person can’t have an opinion, but if one half functions in that space more often, they should get to lead the charge on the foundation of that area.

3. In Rooms You Share, Build Your Style on Common Ground

“But what about the bedroom?” Jonathan says. “You’re both sharing this bedroom—so who gets the final say?” In shared zones, Jonathan recommends finding some common ground. Start with a neutral or agreed-upon color scheme, and let that be the jumping off point for layering in accent pieces like pillows or window coverings within that palette. Try your best to let the process feel collaborative and get comfortable with compromise. You never know—the bedding they choose might end up being your favorite element in the room!

4. Be Open-Minded About Tastes and Styles

Conversation and working together is at the heart of creating a home you both love. Be open to the idea of changing tastes and needs, and embrace getting inspired together. “If you look at magazines and you see something that you really both like, and maybe it wasn’t either of your preference initially, understand that tastes can change,” Jonathan says. “Don’t feel so locked in on something that you have to have, because in five years you might have a different opinion anyway.”

5. Communicate Disagreements Gently

“If there’s something you know that they want, but you really, really don’t want it, have an opportunity to talk about those things together,” Jonathan says. It’s worth it to communicate calmly and gently if you disagree with a certain design choice or style—nobody wants to be criticized or mocked for their taste! Approach the conversation with love, and try to explain why you want to go in a different direction.

6. Get Creative With Pieces You Might Not Love

Jonathan distinctly recalls a chair that his father, Jim, loved in their house growing up—but Jonathan’s mother, Joanne, did not. Instead of getting rid of it, they refreshed it instead. They had a custom slipcover made for the chair that better fit the style of the room, so Jim got to keep his favorite seat and Joanne was able to customize it with a fabric she loved.

Try to find solutions like this for the pieces in your own home where you might have the same problem: re-stain the outdated console that was passed down from a loved one; repaint the catchall dish they just can’t part with; get a new cover for your favorite pillow. There’s so many ways to breathe new life into objects.

7. Get on the Same Page About Budget

This can be the hard part for a lot of couples and roommates—someone feels comfortable spending more, while the other wants to keep the budget more modest. Jonathan says he sees it frequently with a lot of his clients. But it’s important to get on the same page before you make any big decisions! Try meeting in the middle, and be honest with how much money you can really spend. There are savvy ways to save where you don’t have to sacrifice style to get the look you’re going for.

“Most items that you would purchase for a house, you could also find a more modest version of that without sacrificing the aesthetic,” Jonathan says. “So there’s a lot of real good deals you can find—replicas of even vintage pieces that you may like—so you don’t have to blow the budget.” You can find real gems at online vintage markets, secondhand antique stores, and a slurry of other furniture retailers at a great price.

8. Everyone Needs a Space That’s Their Own

Everyone deserves a little zone where they can unwind, relax, and call their own. Depending on how much space you have at home, this might look like a craft room, your home office, the garden in the backyard, or a small reading nook in the living room. It doesn’t have to be a full room or a grand study (though it can be if you have the space for it!). The most important thing is that the area feels like a comfortable place for you to recharge.

9. The Most Important Thing Is Your Relationship with One Another

“Biggest thing is, you love your partner; you love your friend; your roommate; whoever you live with—you want to make sure you have a great relationship living together. So just take the time upfront to think through the whole process, and it’ll be better for you down the road,” Jonathan says. At the end of the day, the place you live is home for you both, so it should feel like it for everyone!

When Jonathan and Zooey first toured their New York City apartment, it was anything but love at first sight. “I’ve always had the ability to walk into a space and imagine what it could be instantly,” Jonathan says. “But we had our work cut out for us with this place.” Popcorn ceilings; stark white walls; zero personality—that’s not the description you’d expect to hear for Jonathan and Zooey’s dream apartment. But through the weathered walls and crooked layout, they saw a vision of what the space could be. And it was going to have to be a full-scale renovation unlike any other.

“The most important thing for Zooey and me is that a space tells a story, and truly represents its owners,” Jonathan says. “We don’t like boring. We wanted everything from the custom furniture to the wallpaper to the lighting fixtures to feel exquisite.”

Sure, they basically had to start from scratch crafting their perfectly detailed maximalist interior from top to bottom: restructuring the layout; adding in elaborate millwork and custom plaster molding; curating a design scheme that balanced an array of texture, color, pattern, form, and sheen; and an endless laundry list of other to-dos in order to make it into the home of their dreams. But they knew they could turn this blank slate into something truly remarkable. And the challenge was half the fun.

So today, Jonathan is taking us on an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour, walking us through his style secrets and the backstory on all the work that went into renovating their remarkable New York City duplex. You can watch the full video above to get the scoop on everything you want to know, and explore more of the stories behind the design below.

Designing Over a Blank Slate

Transforming the early 1900s turn-of-the-century apartment into the ornate, maximalist family home they wanted it to be was no easy feat. Especially considering the unit itself was more like a dull 1980s office space than a beautiful Victorian or early Craftsman. Jonathan and Zooey wanted to infuse historic character back into the space and recreate the Old World charm that had been lost along the way. With soaring 15-foot ceilings and large-scale windows with natural light typically unheard of in New York City, they knew they wanted to make the home something extraordinary.

While the couple was renovating their Los Angeles home, the Park House, they wanted the 1930s Georgian revival to feel like a true bonding of their style and an homage to the original architect, Gerard Colcord. It was their first home together, and it’s a spectacular display of their taste. “LA was a real learning experience for us. It’s the first place we renovated together as a couple, and we learned a lot,” Jonathan says. But in their NYC apartment, they wanted to go bolder; be more daring in their design. Elaborate pattern mixing. Hand-drawn murals. Ornate embroidered wallpaper. “We wanted to push the boundaries of what we did in our Los Angeles home, and include even more handcrafted elements, vintage pieces, and artisanal touches,” Jonathan says.

Finding the Right Co-Designer

The Manhattan duplex is a testament to Jonathan and Zooey’s unique taste and their commitment to family—a celebration of their relationship and the special parts of it that make it their own. But to pull off a project of this scale while living on the opposite coast, they needed someone local who they could trust to manage critical components when they weren’t there. They found the perfect partner in renowned designer Young Huh. “I spoke with Young and we instantly hit it off,” Jonathan says. “Her attention to detail and her love for elegant, traditional design was exactly what we were looking for.”

Young understood their vision completely. “They wanted to incorporate a sense of history and beautiful decoration and the top request was that there be nothing modern,” she says. “Both of them love color and are fearless in exploring pattern and creativity.”

Together, Jonathan and Zooey collaborated with Young and spent nearly five years crafting their artisanal New York City pied-à-terre. But all that time and hard work was more than well worth it. “Collaborating with them was a complete joy. There was so much good creative energy flowing between us,” Young says.

It’s All In the Details

Lively patterns, romantic lighting, moody colors—every element mattered to Jonathan and Zooey. “Here, we decided that all of the fabrics would tell a story—all of the patterns and prints would really grab you when you walked in,” Jonathan says. “And so you’ll see that here—every decision and every room has something to say.”

“They have an incredibly keen eye for design and style,” Young says. “And no one, absolutely no one has Jonathan’s eagle eye for detail. He can detect if something is off an eighth of an inch with just his eye! That was pretty awe-inspiring.”

That “eagle eye” made all the difference, as each room now has its own sense of emotion and story. “When you walk into the entry you are surrounded by joy,” Young says. “The kitchen, living room, and dining room express conviviality and verve. There is a good deal of romance in the outdoor terraces, and their books, art, and decorative objects have a lot of meaning.”

But the handcrafted detail doesn’t stop at the interior. Their three private terraces each have markedly distinct designs, from the kids’ playful elephant topiary to the beautiful latticework in their French-inspired garden outside the living room. They wanted to hint to Los Angeles here, and make the exterior areas of the apartment feel just as lush as the interior.

Traditional Design, Modern Upgrades

Jonathan and Zooey knew they wanted to go with a more intricate, traditional design when it came to their style choices, but they also wanted to incorporate modern-day upgrades when it came to functional items in the house. Combining the two took some creative thinking, but they were able to work with Young to find pieces that hit everything they wanted, both stylistically and functionally.

Take the kitchen, for example. Jonathan and Zooey knew they wanted upscale and high-quality appliances from retailers like JennAir, but found a way to seamlessly blend them into the design with cabinetry. And the oven resembles an antique artisan fixture—between the patina on the copper detailing on the range and hood to the striking matte black finish—for the perfect combination of function and form.

But it’s not just the kitchen that gets the fun and functional treatment. Their entertaining spaces also blend their family’s favorite activities with thoughtful design. There are automatic projector screens that descend from the living room ceilings for cozy movie nights without a bulky TV set disrupting the aesthetic. A custom karaoke setup is hidden in a beautiful cabinet, but remains easy to pull out at every dinner party or night in with the kids. And the standout piece is a beautiful grand piano that Zooey can record songs on for Jonathan to hear back later.

“I love Zooey’s music, and coming home to hear her playing. Having a player piano where she can record songs that I can listen to while she’s away makes that even easier,” Jonathan says. “Some of my favorite She & Him songs for her to play are ‘I Thought I Saw Your Face Today’, ‘Why Do You Let Me Stay Here?’ and ‘I Could’ve Been Your Girl’.”

There’s also plenty of sleek hidden tech that helps keep their home operating at all levels while they’re away.  “I made sure to incorporate some helpful technologies we love about our LA house into our NYC place, like smart panels and AI-driven leak detection with auto-shut off,” Jonathan says. “Going back and forth between our homes on either coast, we don’t want to be susceptible to any kind of damage while we’re gone, so I can remotely monitor everything from our security to our energy and water use. And the nice thing is it’s all hidden away, so you wouldn’t even notice the tech is there.”

Lighting Takes Effect

Jonathan, Zooey, and Young all champion the effect lighting has on a space (especially with Zooey’s father being a distinguished cinematographer). They took their time combing through antique stores, furniture markets, and lighting designers like Visual Comfort & Co. to find the perfect fixtures for the space—like the stunning Murano glass chandelier in the dining room, the floral ironwork pendant in the foyer, or the beautiful vine clad sconces in the family room.

“Lighting is incredibly important. We knew that we wanted to have some really grand statement fixtures,” he says. “But with the smaller footprint of the apartment, we wanted to ensure that it still felt balanced, and there weren’t too many fixtures clashing with one another. To prevent that, we mixed things up—so you’ll see pendants, chandeliers, and sconces all playing their part to make it a more interesting lighting design.”

Home Sweet Home

Today, Jonathan and Zooey finally have that perfect home base that’s as unique and exciting as the city itself. They put their all into turning the apartment into a place that felt like them: bold, colorful, romantic, and interesting.

“We don’t like a boring, modern space,” Jonathan says. “I love it when somebody says to me, ‘I have never seen something like that before.’ That is music to my ears.”

Achieving the vision they originally set out for was not easy—but through patience, planning, and creativity, they were able to curate a metropolitan haven unlike any other.

Bonus: Maximalist Design Tips from Young

Maximalist design can be so rewarding—but making a variety of colors, patterns, and finishes all marry together to look intentional and curated can feel like a tall order, especially if you don’t know where to begin. “Start by picking your favorite colors, fabrics, and finishes, and put them together on a table,” Young says. “Do they all look good together and do they make you feel excited? Try to imagine how those items will look in the room.”

Creating mood boards and comparing fabric samples, wallpaper squares, and paint chips are all great ways to get the creative juices flowing—but ultimately, curating a maximalist design in your own home comes down to creating a space that feels authentically you. There’s no formula for your unique personality, so go with what makes your space feel like yours. “You just have to love all the things you choose together,” Young says.

Between Jonathan and Zooey’s new New York City apartment and Drew keeping up with his and Linda’s two rambunctious toddlers, the Bros have been busier than ever—and they’re not stopping now! That’s right, the duo is back with a brand-new show, and it’s airing soon. On March 15, expect to see Drew and Jonathan back on your screens in Property Brothers: Under Pressure. The series will premiere on HGTV, and the 14-episodes will follow the Bros as they help homebuyers make big decisions that will ultimately change their lives.

“Our buyers want the perfect house in the ideal location, but many times Jonathan and I have to counsel them on how to best stretch their dollar in this competitive real estate market,” Drew says. “It can be hard to find something move-in ready, which is why we look for the diamond in the rough that we can turn into an amazing home with the right renovation.”

Whether they’re weary of the commitment, in need of a pro to help them make the most informed decisions, or grappling with the big-ticket purchase, these homebuyers are searching for expert advice—and that’s why Drew and Jonathan are there to help. After navigating the ins and outs of home buying, the Bros will then help them through the process of renovation: offering advice to incorporate stylish, smart design solutions, and how to keep it all on budget. Every step of the way, expect to see Drew and Jonathan find creative fixes for the most tasking renovation woes, so these owners can finally settle into a home that’s functional, beautiful, and fitted for their families.

When does Property Brothers: Under Pressure premiere?

The new series premieres Sunday, March 15, at 9:00 pm ET/PT.

How many episodes are in the first season?

The first season will have 14 episodes.

What is Property Brothers: Under Pressure about?

In their new show, Drew and Jonathan help worried buyers make confident, informed decisions on the biggest purchase of their lives: a home. Drew and Jonathan will help guide families through the entire buying process—navigating some of the most competitive markets to date; the sticker shock (and the unexpected costs) becoming a reality; realistic personal wish lists and harsh compromises; and the emotional and financial impact. After the home is purchased, the Bros then help these clients incorporate functional design and explore renovation ideas within budget to help them create a dream home.

Where can I stream the show?

You can watch Property Brothers: Under Pressure on HGTV, or stream it on HBO Max or Discovery+.

What’s the premiere episode about?

In the new series premiere, Drew and Jonathan help AJ and Carin—empty nesters who lost everything in the devastating Eaton fire. They’re asking the Bros for help to find their next home and make a fresh start after tragedy. During the process of house hunting, though, they’re met with discouragement: They get outbid on a dream turn-key house.

“We’re very honest and upfront with clients about how challenging the house hunt can be,” Jonathan says. “We encourage them to see past a home’s current state and envision its untapped potential, which can be tough. But when the ideal property pops up, they’ve got to be ready to make an offer and then trust us to create a design that fits their family’s needs.”

Once they finally score a winning price on a property with a detached rental unit, the Bros help AJ and Carin plan out some much-needed updates to turn it into a home they’ll love, like a thoughtfully designed office, an overhaul on the rental unit that includes a kitchenette, a beautifully-tiled bathroom shower, wall-to-wall storage in the bedroom, and a host’s dream backyard, complete with an outdoor kitchen and stylish seating.

What can I stream in the meantime?

You don’t have to wait for their new show to come out in order to get your Bro fix. While we wait for Property Brothers: Under Pressure to air, you can stream Drew and Jonathan’s other shows, like Celebrity IOU, Chasing the West, Don’t Hate Your House, Backed by the Bros, and more on HBO Max and Discovery+. “I know everybody has that one teacher who really transformed their lives,” Jonathan says. That’s who Jim, a beloved film teacher in Los Angeles, is to Zooey. He’s currently 81 years old, and originally Jonathan stopped by to help set up an air conditioning unit for Jim so he could be more comfortable in his home, especially during the California summers. However, when he was at Jim’s place, Jonathan could tell that he was not in an ideal living situation. There were piles of books, DVDs, and boxes that were taking over every inch of space. “I thought maybe we could do a little bit more, and as I was talking about this with Zooey, I got a text from Jim. It was hard to read,” Jonathan says.

“Jonathan, I have a huge favor to ask and I hope you understand my problem. My apartment is where I used to host Sunday screenings for friends and students, and the LA Times even did a front-page article on me and my life as a teacher. And given that my books and DVDs are such a big part of my life and have been for so many years, it’s very difficult to get rid of them. I do need to find a way to go through the books and DVDs so I can find out what I can get rid of and what remains precious to me. Many of these are out of print. More than anything, I just want my apartment to be my own Parisian Cinématique, so I can share my movies with friends and not be embarrassed to have anyone over. I’m asking for your indulgence for a week. A little help to pare things down would be great,” Jim texted. So, Jonathan jumped in with a team to get Jim his home back.

Starting Small

Jim has made such an impact on the people in his life. He’s hosted film showings at his apartment for former students, friends, and loved ones, and he’s always enjoyed sharing the joy of movies and literature. Over the years, though, his great collection of DVDs, books, and other arts has grown and the boxes have taken over. He’s struggled to keep it in order, and like a snowball, it’s turned into a space he can no longer host at—there’s simply no room. When there’s boxes upon boxes of items to sort through, it’s best to start small. So, the team got to work categorizing Jim’s collection, and boxing them up so they could get to work on the space beneath the stuff.

Editing It Down

After items were categorized and taken out of the space, they were able to get to work editing down each category. They made keep and donate piles for clothes, and took their time going through all of the items with Jim so it wasn’t overwhelming. From there, they took note of any pain points in the apartment. He needed more shelving for his media collection, for example, and better furniture that fit his home and lifestyle. They helped solve these issues with a cozy new sectional, multifunctional appliances, and they cleaned the apartment top-to-bottom so it was easier for Jim to start fresh.

A Brand-New Life

It wasn’t just organizing and cleaning that the crew helped with—they also built Jim new shelving, upgraded his sound system and organized his cords and TV wires, helped him parse down his kitchen supplies, set him up with new furniture, and more. When they walked through the apartment, Jim was shocked (and so were we!). They were able to give Jim the gift of a new chapter—one where film showings and game nights are abundant, and everyday life feels calmer.

“I was living in a hovel, and all of a sudden, it’s a palace,” Jim says. “A new life is what this feels like.”

If you’ve been keeping up with Drew and Jonathan’s YouTube channel, then you know that they recently started a new head-to-head game called House Stumpers, where they examine and try to guess the correct price of real home listings all over the United States (and sometimes, even around the globe). Now, they’re back with another batch of property listings that are even more jaw-dropping than before. With unbelievable prices, head-scratching design decisions, and even some famous properties sneaking their way into the mix (hello, Home Alone house!), this next batch of House Stumpers is certainly one worth watching.

Expect homes in charming Midwestern cities to chilly chalets in Canada, tiny houses worth big bucks, and even real haunted mansions up for sale. With just a few photos to look at and a minimal amount of details given, the Bros are really tapping into that real estate knowledge to get these prices right. Follow alongside the duo (and some friends, too!) as they check out these properties, explore the epic photos, and find out just how much they’re worth. Who knows—you might even do better than the Property Brothers! Just make sure to leave a comment on the YouTube video and let them know how you fared. (And tell us what city you want the Bros to look at next!)

Drew traded Jonathan for his friends at North Valley Group in this week’s House Stumpers, and it was nothing shy of fun and games galore! Curt, Spencer, Ryan, and Cody all jumped in to guess the prices. Their secret? All four of these guys are real estate agents, too, up in Chico, California, which is also the theme for these listings. Will Drew’s decades-long real estate prowess help him secure the win in a market he’s not familiar with? You’ll have to watch and see!

In this very merry special edition of House Stumpers, the Bros look into some familiar homes you might recognize from your favorite holiday movies. From Amanda Woods (Cameron Diaz)’s Los Angeles mansion in The Holiday to the iconic Home Alone house in Winnetka, Illinois, and the beloved London home in Love, Actually, these properties have won over our holiday hearts for so many reasons. Today, Drew and Jonathan are walking us through the interiors and showcasing what they’re worth on the market—all with some silly reindeer games along the way.

Enter if you dare! The homes this week are not for those who get easily spooked by ghost stories or ghoulish things that go bump in the night… Drew and Jonathan are exploring haunted mansions and historic homes with eerie lore that makes them prime real estate among the living and the dead. From the real house from Poltergeist to a haunted 11-suite inn and a Victorian mansion that’s been a frequent stop for ghost hunters, these properties are certainly to die for. So, would you ever buy a haunted house?

Saddle up, cowboys, and come down to the House Stumpers rodeo! This week, the Bros are exploring property listings in the Wild West, and there’s a ton of fun along the way. There’s cowboy trivia, fun Western quips from Drew and Jonathan, and exploring what a whopping $5.7M Western ranch includes (hint: there’s a rodeo arena involved… in the backyard). The Bros’ rancher roots really do show, too, because they were neck-in-neck the whole time! See which one came out on top, and don’t forget to catch our Chasing the West premiere on Hulu and HBO Max if you haven’t already!

First up, the Bros are taking a look at some snowy ski cabins across a variety of different places—from the beautiful Park City, Utah (where the average home price is a whopping $2.4 million), to the open lands of Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and the serene Banff, Alberta, Canada (where their parents, Jim and Joanne Scott, first met!). Even though Drew and Jonathan weren’t super familiar with a couple of these places, in one of these home listings, Jonathan actually guessed the list price right on the nose. The first time in House Stumpers history! In the end, though, only one Bro could be the winner… Who do you think it was?

The Bros are heading to the Big Apple this week to take a look at some of the most sought-after neighborhoods in the country. From a bi-level in Williamsburg, Brooklyn to an apartment with exposed brick and a surprising amount of natural light in the beautiful Upper West Side of Manhattan, these listings are throwing Drew and Jonathan for a loop! New York City is a booming real estate market that extends across each of the five boroughs—but that makes guessing the price of these homes that much more difficult…

This week, Drew and Jonathan are heading to Sin City—the place they called home for 13 whole years! Yes, we all know Vegas for its casinos and nightlife, but between the blackjack tables and slot machines, you’ll also find that Vegas has a housing market worth betting on. The Bros are traveling all over the city, from a whopping $15.5M listing on a huge lot, to a more modestly-priced house with green carpeting. Drew and Jonathan have their work cut out for them this week! So, did the Bros hit the jackpot guessing these listing prices? You have to see for yourself!

The Bros are getting acquainted with a market they haven’t explored yet before—and it’s safe to say they were, well, stumped! We’re headed to the Windy City this week for a House Stumpers video that explored all that Chicago real estate had to offer, from a condo beaming with floor-to-ceiling windows of natural light, to a luxury townhouse in a gated community downtown complete with a workout room and a rooftop terrace. Drew and Jonathan are making it their mission to correctly guess the price of these first-place homes in the Second City, and it’s entertaining to watch them try, to say the least!

We’ve explored plenty of homes across the US that are larger than life, but this week, the Brothers are looking at houses with a more modest square footage… like, really modest. That’s right—they’re taking a swing at the prices of tiny homes! They might be small, but these little living spaces pack a punch. There’s a home with an outdoor shower (don’t worry, there’s an indoor one, too!); a tinyplex (aka a duplex, but make it miniature); and even a house that can be shipped right to your door. Take a look at these digs, and please, let us know: Would you ever try tiny home living?

To celebrate Canada Day on July 1, Drew and Jonathan are headed to their motherland to guess home listing prices and see who really knows the town the best. With their Mom and Linda both being from Toronto, and Drew and Jonathan growing up in Vancouver, it’s easy to assume they’ll be neck in neck guessing these Canadian house prices. (Fun fact: The first season of Property Brothers was actually filmed in Toronto, too!) Needless to say, the Brothers know the place well. However, with the staggering market in Toronto that makes prices vary widely from neighborhood to neighborhood, you might be surprised to see how the guys do this round… Grab a plate of poutine and let’s find out!

Jonathan’s claiming it: “2026 is the year where we are over boring,” he says. So with that in mind, is there a room that needs a little change? Lucky for you, Drew and Jonathan are walking us through their creative ideas to revamp your spaces for a new-year-new-me vibe that speaks to your personality and style, and that you’ll love for years to come. In the video above, they outline when and where a refresh might be necessary, as well as tips to do it right and mistakes to avoid so you keep your room from dating itself in the future. (A moment of silence for anyone who suffered through a tween bedroom’s neon zebra wallpaper…)

From statement wall inspiration to creative ways to use peel-and-stick paper, wood paneling, and even crafty tips for fabrics you might not have thought of yet, the Bros are ringing in the new year with new ways to redecorate and make your home feel special. After all, it’s fun to experiment with design without committing to a full-blown renovation. So explore tips, tricks, and shopping ideas to pull it off here—plus, make sure to subscribe to our Drew & Jonathan YouTube channel for even more inspiration.

1. Play With Statement Wallpaper

“If there’s a wall in your space that is just begging for an extra treatment, this is where you could do something as an easy weekend project, like wallpaper or paneling,” Jonathan says. “You can go bold with your wallpaper, but just know that the bolder you go, generally the faster it goes out of style.” You can still keep things interesting, though. For example, you can choose a neutral-color paper with subtle pattern or texture, which will add interest without being overpowering.

There are a couple different types of wallpaper that you can use, too, depending on your preferred application:

Traditional wallpaper: Installation requires extra work and care, and things can get messy. However, traditional wallpaper offers better longevity (10+ years) and better performance in humidity.

Peel-and-stick wallpaper: Installation is simpler. All you have to do is peel the backing and apply to the wall. (We have a tutorial here.) It still requires careful planning and handling, but without as many tools. So removable wallpaper is great for renters or quick DIYs, but it may be less durable over time.

2. Create a Feature Ceiling

However, Drew mentions, “a feature wall doesn’t have to be a feature wall—with the right kind of wallpaper and peel-and-stick, you can have a feature ceiling.” Get creative this year, and do something out of your comfort zone! There are so many different types of wallpaper designs, from textured grasscloth to gorgeous mural designs and more that can transform a boring ceiling into a focal point.

3. Install Wood Veneer Paneling

Wood paneling is not what it used to be! Today’s wood veneer panels offer style, function, and ultra-easy installation that could look absolutely stunning in any home. Many options can be applied to your walls with just a few screws, making sleek wooden statement walls easier than ever. And some brands, like Wood Veneer Hub, even have a sound-dampening backing for better noise absorption—perfect for living rooms, basement entertainment zones, and rental apartments with thinner walls.

4. Go All-In With Color Drenching

Bold walls don’t begin and end with wallpaper. Color drenching has only gotten more and more popular over the past few years—however, it’s a technique that’s actually been around since the early 20th century. The idea, in short, is to coat an entire room in the same color of paint. It embraces artful monochromatic styling and, when done right, gives a dramatic look to the space without looking overwhelming.

It is possible to go overboard here, so make sure there’s some sort of contrast or variant to keep things looking interesting. “I’m not the biggest fan of having tone on tone on tone for your room all the time, because a lot of people get it wrong,” Drew says. “Make sure to have something that adds some other interest in the space, otherwise it’s just going to look very flat.”

“That’s why I like doing the change-up in the finishes,” Jonathan adds. “Even if the draperies are the same color, you might have a slightly different sheen or a slightly different texture to them. A lot of times I’ll do my casings and my baseboards in a satin finish, and then I’ll do the walls in a matte. You can mix it up.”

5. Try a New Tile

For wet spaces like kitchen backsplashes and bathrooms, you’ll want to reach for tile. But that doesn’t mean you have to go for tile in a typical color. “Tile is a lot trickier, a lot more expensive, a lot more work—but also can have a really great effect,” Jonathan says (Just look at the tile at his house!). “Depending on the aesthetic that you’re going for, there are a million different ways that you can create interest.”

“I love a tile that looks artisanal; it looks handcrafted,” Drew says. “You can also go for a repeat pattern if you want, or you can have something that feels varied throughout the design.” Even if you go with a standard subway tile, you can arrange them in a unique way to bring that visual interest: basketweave, herringbone, crosshatch, chevron—there are so many different solutions to make tile look artful, even if you’re going with a more budget-friendly option.

Reupholstering

Fabric is such an easy, affordable way to make a room feel new, and textural layers are a must to give it that designer finish we all crave. “If you look at any design magazine, you’re never going to see everything just flat, or one color, or the same pattern,” Jonathan says. “The stuff that looks really, really good that’s done by professionals is always layered in. And if you don’t think you can figure that out, it’s okay! You don’t have to. Go online and pull inspiration photos, and then just sort of replicate it for your own purposes. I encourage you to steal all of our designs!”

“And you can find inspiration as well when you go into a beautiful hotel or a restaurant,” he adds. “Take some photos, images that you really love the layered look to, and then go to a fabric shop.” You aren’t limited to the pieces you find online! You can reupholster your pillows, make new curtains, tablecloths, and more.

“Whatever you want, big or small, in your design—2026 is all about you. Let’s bring the joy back into your design!” Drew says.

You might have heard about the iconic Rose Bowl college football game that happens every New Year’s Day, but did you know that there’s a rich history behind the celebration that includes a gorgeous Pasadena mansion overflowing with complex architectural details and historic memorabilia? Today, Jonathan is taking a tour of the extraordinary Wrigley Mansion in Pasadena—also known as the Tournament House—and he’s bringing us along for the ride.

In our video, you’ll see up close the ornate detail in each room, from the beautiful burlwood features to the foiled wallpaper and stunning ceilings. Come explore the history behind the home with Jonathan, and watch our playlist here for more historic and exclusive house tours.

Tournament House History and Architecture

The property was originally a winter home for William Wrigley Jr. and his wife Ada Wrigley—as in, the Chicago Cubs’s Wrigley Field and Wrigley Chewing Gum. The 1914 estate is now known as the Wrigley Mansion or Tournament House. It became the permanent headquarters for the Tournament of Roses in 1958.

The Italian renaissance-style mansion is filled with ornate detailing. The architect, George Lawrence Stimson, was known for his focus on interesting ceilings and highly detailed features—all of which makes this home a truly one-of-a-kind property.

Inside Wrigley Mansion’s Architectural Details

Ornate Woodwork

The fantastic history begins right at the entrance, with a massive 400-pound Honduran mahogany front door that’s original to 1914. Beautiful carvings and artistic details fill the door’s facade and make it an art piece all its own. Inside the home itself, you’ll find gorgeous Romanian Circassian walnut, burlwood paneling, now extinct crotch mahogany walls, and more picturesque wooden features.

Interesting Ceilings

Inside the home, you’ll find ceilings that wow. “All of this detail was hand-done, and it’s pretty incredible,” Jonathan says. “When you tour our home, you’ll see that every room has a different ceiling, different beams—coffered, cove, barrel. In fact, the living room here has an incredible shallow barrel which at the time was not very common…it’s subtle, but so impactful.”

Gracie Foiled Wallpaper

“There are a handful of Wrigley homes across the country, and every one of the family members had a foil paper to signify the foil that wrapped Wrigley’s gum,” Jonathan says. It’s a special nod to legacy that each Wrigley family member can share, no matter where they live. In Tournament House, the hand-painted foil wallpaper was created by the Gracie company, and features gorgeous scenic florals, landscapes, and traditional motifs.

Behind the Pasadena Tournament of Roses

According to the Tournament of Roses site, the event first started as “a small effort by Pasadena’s distinguished Valley Hunt Club to promote the city’s charm and beautiful weather.” But it’s since become a tradition in America’s New Year’s Day celebrations.

“The Tournament of Roses encompasses everything. It’s the parade, the floats, the flowers, the football game,” Jonathan says. It’s a New Year’s celebration that’s been around since 1890, with the parade featuring elaborate, beautiful floats (made entirely of natural materials!), marching bands and equestrian groups, and of course, ending with the iconic Rose Bowl football game that’s held after the parade is over.

Drew and Linda have been busy decorating their house for the holidays with their little ones, Parker and Piper. And together as a family, they’ve turned their home into a nostalgic Christmas wonderland filled with beautiful handmade ornaments, decorations made by local artists, and vintage-inspired DIY decor to create a magical holiday home that feels as cozy as a cup of hot cocoa.

Today, they’re gifting us with a special holiday treat: a tour of their cheerful space! They took arts and crafts scraps and turned them into a beautiful handmade collage of Christmas decor that feels curated, warm, and personal. From their Christmas tree delightfully trimmed with handmade ornaments made by Parker, Piper and their cousins; to felted pieces that Linda crafted herself; to their creative advent-ure calendar wall strung with velvet bows and ribbons, Drew and Linda’s house puts the North Pole to shame.

You can watch the full video above to see all the details, but we’re unwrapping more of the details below, too.

Linda’s Creative Advent Calendar Wall

Linda took their built-in shelves and turned them into a full-wall DIY advent calendar, complete with festive cubbies filled with Christmas boxes and bows for each day of December. Inside, the little ones can find fun little books, hand-crafted pieces, nutcrackers, Elves on the Shelf, and more cute, festive surprises. “I love that Linda just completely curates this out of what we can find around the house,” Drew says.

Today, they’re gifting us with a special holiday treat: a tour of their cheerful holiday home! From their Christmas tree beautifully trimmed with handmade ornaments made by Parker, Piper and their cousins; to felted pieces that Linda crafted herself; to their creative advent-ure calendar wall strung with velvet bows and ribbons, Drew and Linda’s house puts the North Pole to shame!

The Wonderous Ceiling Christmas Train

A big showstopper is the Christmas train that runs around the ceiling of the living room. Parker and Piper both love trains, and it’s become a mainstay in their holiday decor. Drew and Parker even made a tradition of going to the train store around Christmas. This year, they bought two new train cars to hitch on. It took a bit of work and creativity to make their ceiling train idea come to fruition, but it’s become a standout Christmas decoration in their home that everyone loves.

“Everyone who walks in here, whether you’re 3 years old or you’re 80 years old, stops and gives a big, ‘Wow,’ when they see the train running around the ceiling,” Drew says.

Drew and Linda’s DIY Holiday Decoration Ideas

Homemade Ornaments

“A lot of the ornaments throughout have been handmade,” Drew says. Parker and Piper hung their adorable salt dough ornaments, and Linda even felted some of our favorite holiday characters (like the Abominable Snowman from Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer!)

Repurposed Holiday Cards

“We save all the old holiday cards and we actually just cut them up into strips,” he says, “And then with the kids we actually tape them together and create long ring garland that we just put throughout the house. We love crafting in this house!”

Decorate With Leftover Ribbon

“We’re taking arts and crafts scraps and turning it into what we can,” Drew says. Linda uses ribbon scraps and pompoms to make bows to hang alongside the Christmas stockings, on their advent calendar wall, and throughout the house on garland and other decorations.

We know Parker loves his trains, so the advent calendar train was a huge hit! He could play with all the sweet advent boxes, hide little goodies in the compartments, and of course, play trains with his little sister. It was a simple but extra-special way to combine something he loves with the holiday spirit.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas at the Park House!

Jonathan and Zooey love to celebrate the holidays. In fact, Jonathan is basically the real-life version of Buddy the Elf this time of year. So it’s no surprise to hear they go all-out when it comes to their decorations. They fill their historical home to the brim with modern tinsel trees, stockings, sugarplums, and nutcrackers galore. And because you made the Nice list, Jonathan is giving you a sneak peek at all the merrymaking, as well as a few tips to turn your space into a winter wonderland.

They worked with Stephen Brown and his team at Glitterville Studios to create a whimsical Christmas dreamland throughout their home, and it turned out better than we could even imagine! “We love the color, we love the sparkle, we love the glitter,” Jonathan says. “We want something that feels fresh—our own personal holiday theme this year is velvet and bows or tartan and tinsel.” So, Stephen got to work crafting the holiday home of their dreams. Over five days (and countless hand-tied bows and handmade baubles!) the Glitterville team turned the Park House into a stunning winter wonderland. Watch our video to take a peek behind the scenes and see exactly how Stephen made the magic happen and keep reading for even more insider details.

Throughout their home, you’ll find bits and baubles of whimsical holiday decor that feels jovial and creative, with nostalgic elements that make it perfectly the Park House. They pull off the aesthetic by decking the halls with classic pieces—ornaments, garlands, and bows—but layering in unexpected items and decorations that have a bit of a twist, like oversized baubles, papier-mâché goodies, flying reindeer, and holiday characters with plenty of sparkle.

With so many adorable characters, themes, and holiday scenes around the house, Jonathan likes to keep it cohesive by sticking to a similar color story throughout. This way, it feels just like a journey through the North Pole. “I like it to be a little bit nostalgic, a little bit fun, with a whole lot of holiday spirit,” Jonathan says.

You know Dasher and Dancer, Prancer and Vixen… But did you know that Jonathan has all of our favorite reindeer floating right in his foyer? It’s true! Dashing over the entryway cabinet and up into the chandelier are all of Santa’s favorite sleigh creatures.

“We like to have different themes for different areas,” Jonathan says. You can see that on the variety of trees alone! Not to mention all the various beautiful Christmas vignettes throughout the home, like a sweet gumdrop fountain and the cutest après ski village atop the fireplace mantel.

Inside the living room tree, you’ll find handmade ski characters, hot cocoa mugs, holiday cabins, and of course, plenty of sparkle! Layering these different elements with bows, light bulbs, and different shaped objects creates a holiday display that makes a stunning impact.

“As a costume designer, which is where I started,” Stephen says. “We believe that anything can be a hat as long as you put it on your head—and anything can be a Christmas ornament as long as you can tie it to the tree!”

“The main event is our Christmas tree in the family room, because that’s where we do the family photos, that’s where we put the presents—that is the pièce de résistance,” Jonathan says. “And this is the most incredible tree.”

“Everything in moderation,” Stephen says. “Including moderation. My theory when decorating a tree is you put a lot on this side, until it leans that way—then you put a lot on this side, until it leans this way, and eventually it all evens out.” Stephen’s more-is-more approach to decorating is exactly what makes Jonathan’s home feel so merry and bright! The color, the texture, and the whimsy come together to create something truly magical.

Of course, we all know how much Jonathan and Zooey love their nutcracker collection, too. From the giant gumdrop nutcracker guarding the door to their handmade characters throughout the home, each one has its own personality and special kind of whimsy.

His favorite this year is a beautiful glimmering nutcracker that was actually hand-jeweled by Stephen at Glitterville. “He’s like the boss of all the nutcrackers—or should we say the diva,” Jonathan says.

Jonathan is also sharing tips on how to up the holiday spirit in your home this year, whether you want to refresh your usual wintertime decor or you’re getting ready to throw a holiday party to remember. His expert advice will help you transform your space into a magical festive wonderland—it’s his gift to you!

Don’t Be Afraid of Going Bold

“If you have a theme that you love, a color palette that you love, maybe the kids want to get involved picking out some of the colors—just have a little fun,” he says. “If you never go bold, you’re never going to create something truly incredible.” Whether it’s adding in more sparkle, combining colors you don’t use often, or going all-out with a festive theme, just make it your own. He adds, “Do something that’s going to take you out of your comfort zone, and do something truly magical this holiday season.”

Plan In Advance

”There are lots of different rules when decorating for the holidays, but of course as we know, rules are meant to be broken, so it really depends on your comfort level. One of the big ones is if you have little kids or big animals, you want to be careful with stuff they can knock over or that can shatter, like glass. We have a lot of glass, a lot of tinsel—things like that. However, we also have some ground rules, and the kids are really great at not knocking things over. Just make sure you plan in advance. The more robust you want your decorations to be, it’s going to take a little bit more work to make sure you get the right stuff.”

Combine Decor Old, New, and Hand-Made

“We reuse most of our Christmas decorations from year to year, and sometimes we’ll introduce something new, like our cute little gingerbread people. It’s nice to have a little bit of the old, a little bit of the new. Some of it is just made out of cardboard—you can do crafts with the kids and glitter it up a little bit to make something that’s a little whimsical, and then you can tie it in with your design. We love to see stuff that’s been made by the family and some that’s professionally made.”

Refresh Your Usual Scenes

“If you have something that’s really recognizable that you decorate with year after year, you can mix it up by using it a little differently,” Jonathan says. Take the solarium, for example. This year, Stephen took the colorful champagne bottles they used last year in the living room tree and strung them along the olive trees inside the solarium for a sweet and celebratory gumdrop-themed look that feels fresh and festive.

Layer Your Lights

“Different kinds of lights offer different dimension. You’ll see we have large C9 bulbs, but we also have LEDs that have a soft twinkle on and off, in addition to another LED that’s on all the time to provide illumination. We have three different strands of lights all tied together and it creates a beautiful illusion.”

Get Real

“If you have an artificial tree but you miss the smell of a real tree or how full it can look, here’s a trick: We went to a tree lot, and they gave us their trimmings from real trees. We stuffed those real branches into our tree. You can smell it—it smells great—and it adds a real natural element with the branches filling it out.”

Top With Tinsel

“…And don’t be afraid of tinsel! I don’t like it when it’s a blanket of tinsel tossed everywhere, it should be done in tasteful ways so you can still see your ornaments. I have all these beautiful glass ornaments and they look really classic, but I wanted to bring that whimsy with the tinsel, too.”
