She can make you laugh so hard you cry, but on this episode<\/a> of Celebrity IOU<\/em>, Sarah Silverman is putting down the joke book and picking up the sledgehammer. Sarah’s joining forces with Drew and Jonathan to gift her friend Amy with the incredible kitchen reno<\/a> she’s always wanted. One of the closest people in her life for the past 25 years, Amy has been there through thick and thin, and Sarah wants to show her how much she means to her. Amy’s been dreaming of upgrading her kitchen for years now, so while she’s out of town, Sarah and the Bros are going to work on making that dream a reality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To say Amy has been a huge part of Sarah’s life would be an understatement. “Amy’s not just my manager, she’s my emergency contact,” Sarah says. Through loss and change, life’s highest highs, and lowest lows, Amy and Sarah have been side by side through it all. “We’ve really become\u2014in Jewish we say ‘mishpachah’\u2014you know, it’s like family, but it’s the family you make.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At first glance, stepping into the kitchen, it generally looks fine\u2014but when you get up close, you start to see the quality of the space falling apart at the seams. The appliances<\/a> that came with the house barely work, the floors are beat up, and the builder-grade finishes are on their last leg. It’s also a bit dark and dreary, which isn’t Amy’s style. “She wanted to update it, but she kind of put everything into buying it,” Sarah says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Luckily, Drew, Jonathan, and Sarah have a plan to create that relaxing space so Amy can feel comfortable and happy in her kitchen\u2014working, entertaining, cooking, sharing her favorite wines with friends<\/a>, and finally enjoying it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“She bought this townhouse\u2014it’s beautiful\u2014but it’s a little bit the bane of her existence,” says Sarah. “She’s been dreaming of doing renovations for a while, so I’m hoping that this is a really great surprise.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sophisticated Design Choices<\/h5>

The herringbone pattern on the wood floor is a seemingly small detail<\/a> that makes a huge impact on the overall design. It adds that touch of sophisticated style in a subtle, thoughtful way.<\/p>\n

Taking the cabinetry all the way up to the ceiling is also a simple way to elevate the space. It makes the ceilings appear taller visually, and gives the kitchen a designer look that the prior builder-grade cabinetry was lacking.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n

Upgraded Paneled Appliances<\/h5>

Of course, making the space brighter and lighter was something that was very important to Sarah. Amy loves the look of that natural, mid-century modern<\/a> aesthetic, and Sarah and the Bros wanted to make sure to incorporate those elements. The light-toned wood was a fabulous way to do this, and the upgraded paneled appliances take the design to the next level.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n
